The BOOKS OF THE BIBLE
Genesis: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1). What do we learn? God is the Creator of all things. He created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. The created world was good in fact it was very good. No sin, death or disease, all was in harmony with God. Man was made in the image of God. God made rules or boundaries ("Do not eat of the tree"). God made a woman for the man (marriage ordained by God). Question: Is the book of Genesis true/history?
A few of the Evidences for God and Creation: complexity of life; Earth just right for life to thrive; when you see a design, there is always a designer; the universe has law and order; our personal encounter with God.
Evidence that refutes evolution: Evolution is an unproven theory that even those who believe it cannot explain it.The fossil record shows that the theory of evolution is wrong. Evolution cannot be proven by scientific methods because it cannot be repeated and cannot be observed. Evolution is believed by faith not evidence.
Corruption - The Fall: In Genesis 3 we read that Adam and Eve choose to sin.The result: sin and death enters the world. The book of Genesis introduces us to Abraham in Genesis 12 through whom would come the Savior, Jesus Christ.
The Book of Exodus:
Moses called to set the people of God (Israel) free from slavery. After the ten plagues and the first "Passover" Moses lead the people out of slavery and they pass through the Red Sea by the mighty hand of God.
The Ten Commandments
The Book of the Acts of the Apostles: In this book we find the church was birthed in the power of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4). After Peter preached that day about 3000 people were saved. His answer to those who asked "Men and brethren what shall we do?" (v.37) was "Repent every one of you and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (v.38). This is our heritage and foundation. People like us empowered by God applying their faith to everyday life. The book also tells of how the Holy Spirit took ordinary people with the message of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Today many churches have buildings, funds and members, some even have influence in the community...yet we have not impacted society the way the early church did. Why? One reason: they were filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit fill our hearts and churches. Amen.
